Most businesses already have every invoice they were ever sent. In a drawer, in an inbox, in a folder on somebody's desktop called scans. Having them and being able to find them are not the same thing.
What makes this searchable is the reading.
A folder of photographs can be searched by filename and nothing else. Once every page has been read, the supplier, the customer, the date and the total are fields, so a question like “everything between 30 and 500 dollars in July” is a filter rather than an afternoon. The archive is not a separate product. It is what you have left over once the documents have been through the reader.
Every page here can be opened and checked against the row beside it, which is the point. A record you cannot audit back to the original is a number somebody has to trust.
